"Where's church?"

December 4, A.D. 2005
Emma fell asleep in the car on the way home from church this afternoon, and managed to remain asleep as dad transferred her from her car seat to her bed. When she woke up from her nap, she shuffled (very bleary-eyed) into the living room and queried, "Where's church?" After her parents had a good chuckle, Annie asked her,
"Did you dream of church?"
"Yeah," she replied, then trotted off back to bed.

Pictures with Papa and Nana

Reformation Day

Emma was a Greyfriar monk and we had a great feast at our church. She of course had a fun time with her friends, Charlotte and Jessa. And she got some pumpkin carving in with Papa too.

Friends

Here are Annie with her friends, Lisa, Hannah, and Shannon. Lisa's in her Reformation Day costume; she doesn't dress like that all the time!

Beatrice

Our latest nickname for Bea is "Beaches," cause it rhymes with peaches, or Beatrice, or...okay, it's pretty dumb, but she likes it.

Helicopters

Emma is posing with Annie's cousin Buck in front of a Blackhawk helicopter, the kind he flies around. Then she ended up flying it herself.

Trip to Killeen

Here are Emma and Bea with their cousins Libby and Wyatt. Congratulations to these kids on their new little brother, Cody David.

Long time, no post

It's been a while since we've posted and I apologize. Since last time, Annie's parents have visited us, we went down to Killeen to visit Annie's cousin and family (he's in the Army) and the weather has "cooled down" to a chilly 65 degrees as the high for the day. Gotta love that Texas winter weather! Nevertheless, we still have our Christmas decorations up and our twinkle lights displayed in abundance. Ella is singing about sleigh bells and Santa and you just can't help drinking some eggnog. We leave for Idaho on the 16th and are looking forward to seeing some snow to go along with the Christmas tunes.

Emma and Bea with their Dad

the girls are so beautiful in the morning.

corny dogs and the rhinos

Emma really liked the "corny dog," which is a must if you attend the fair. One has to get one's yearly intake of grease, you know. We also saw these really weird metal sculptures of dinosaurs which the kids enjoyed playing under. Emma referred to them all as rhinos.

State Fair Tired Kids

Here are Bea, Emma, Jonah, and Jude all worn out. It's hot and I'm tired, Mom. Take me home!

Gingersnaps and taps

More cookie making. Yes, we do that a lot around here. The other picture is of Emma who insisted on the swimsuit-sweater tights look. And the tap shoes complete the outfit. Hip, don't you think?

Butter and Elvis

We love butter and think it's really good on things like mashed potatoes and in macaroni and cheese. But when we heard about the new exhibit at the fair, we started to rethink our views on the fat of the land. You see, this lady goes around to fairs and carves sculptures out of the very thing we delight to see melted on toast. And to beat that, she carved Elvis and his "hound dogs" for us here in Texas. Now that's what we here call, "classy."

Now who can resist this face?

The State Fair

Well, we braved the crowds and the 84 degree heat and humidity and went to the State Fair of Texas. It lasts the whole month of October and there are so many things to do and see that it's worth going at least one day. Here are Annie and the kids, Hannah and her kids and Hannah's parents, Roy and Bev. More pictures of the fair will follow.

The Mustangs

Here we are in front of the Mustangs of Las Colinas. These are the main attraction when you come to Irving, and they are pretty cool, besides being the world's largest equestrian sculpture. They are running through water and feel so life-like yet bigger than the real thing and made out of bronze.

cookies

Chocolate chip are our favorites, though Emma will eat just about anything. This was her first experience licking the beater. It won't be her last if we have anything to say about it.

The girls

Emma has a hard time holding Bea because she's such a massive amount of flesh. Bea that is. And she's a big back archer. She has slimmed down a bit though. At her 6 month checkup she no longer was off the charts but was in the 75th percentile in weight and 90s for height. Much more average, eh?

All dressed up...

No place to go.

Reading

We love to read. Hence Emma with the Bible and Jonathan studying out on our patio.

Before we left for home, we got Papa to do a photo shoot. Here are the best ones...

Wedding Photos

Joel and Ashley got their wedding pictures taken in the back yard. It was a beautiful day for the beautiful people.

We're back

Well, we are back in Texas after our month of vacation in Idaho. It was a blessed time with family and friends. Emma did perfectly in the wedding and we were so proud. In order, here are Bea and her Great-Grandpa, Bea in her Texas outfit, Emma and her new friends, Summer and Jared, and the girls with their Papa in his boat.
